1. Answer :

2. Answer :

7/25

In the given fraction, the denominator is 25 which is convertible to 100 using multiplication by 4.

7/25 = (7x4)/(25x4) = 28/100 = 0.28

3. Answer :

3/8

In the given fraction, the denominator is 8 which is not convertible to 10 or 100.

So the given fraction can be converted to decimal using long division.

4. Answer :

17/5

To convert the given decimal into percentage, we have to check whether the denominator of the fraction can be converted into 100 using multiplication.

Here, the denominator of the given fraction is 5 which can be converted into 100 using multiplication by 2.

17/5 = (17x20)/(5x20) = 340/100 = 340%

5. Answer :

340%

To convert the given percentage into mixed number, first we have to convert the given percentage into improper fraction by taking 100 as denominator and simplify, if possible.

So, we have

340% = 340/100 = 17/5

Now, we can convert 17/5 as a mixed number as explained below.

6. Answer :

2 3/5, 3 6/25, 3 1/25

7. Answer :

5 7/8

To convert the given mixed number into decimal, we have to take the fraction part of the mixed number and check whether the denominator can be converted in to 10 or 100 using multiplication.

In the fraction part 7/8, the denominator is 8 which can not be converted in to 10 or 100 using multiplication.

So, we can convert 7/8 into decimal using long division.

8. Answer :

2.742, 0.2742, 0.0032, 0.032, 0.32

To convert a decimal into percentage, the given decimal has to be multiplied by 100. When we multiply the decimal by 100, we have to move the decimal point two digits to the right.

2.742 = 2.742x100% = 274.2%

0.2742 = 0.2742x100% = 27.42%

0.0032 = 0.0032x100% = 0.32%

0.032 = 0.032x100% = 3.2%

0.32 = 0.32x100% = 32%

9. Answer :

45%, 36.2%

To convert a percentage into fraction, we have to divide the given number by 100.

Because, percentage means, the given number is compared to 100.

When we divide the given number by 100, we will get a fraction. And we have to simplify the fraction to its lowest term, if possible.

45% = 45/100 = 9/20

36.2% = 36.2/100 = 362/1000 = 181/500

10. Answer :

36%, 27.5%

To convert a percentage into decimal, we have to move the decimal point two digits to the left.

36% = 36/100 = 9/25

27.5% = 27.5/100 = 275/1000 = 11/40

11. Answer :

Total number of squares = 12

Number of squares shaded = 4

Writing the shaded region as fraction, we get

= 4/12

Using 4 times table simplifying it, we get

= 1/3

12. Answer :

Comparing 25% and 0.3, Samuel says that 25% is greater than 0.3. To compare these two quantities, we have to make into same type.

25/100 = 0.25

Comparing 0.25 and 0.3, 0.3 is greater. Then Samuel's statement is not correct.

13. Answer :

converting-per-decimal-fraction-q5.png

(a) percentage of people voted for Labour

= 100 - (25 + 35 + 11)

= 100 - 71

= 29%

Percentage of people voted for labour is 29%.

(b)

35% = 35/100

Using 5 times table, simplifying it.

= 7/20

(c)

11% = 11/100

Converting it as decimal, we get

= 0.11

(d) Number of people voted = 8000

= 25% of 8000

= (25/100) x 8000

= 25 x 80

= 2000

14. Answer :

Arriving time = 5 pm

Arrives late at 5.15 pm

a) Late by 15 minutes

b) Writing 15 minutes as fraction of an hour, we get

= 15/60

= 1/4 hour

15. Answer :

converting-per-decimal-fraction-q6.png

7/100 = 0.07

Converting into percentage :

= (7/100) x 100%

= 7%

0.35 = 35%

Converting into fraction :

= 35/100

Using 5 times table, we get

= 7/20

3/5 = 60%

Convering into decimal :

= 60%

= 60/100

= 0.60
