Solution  :

Column A :

Given, 6.54×104

=  6.54×10000

=  65400.00

=  65400

Column B :

Given, 65400

So, Both are equal. 

Problem 2  :

40×0.25

Column B

√12

(A)  Column A is greater    (B)  Column B is greater 

(C)  Both are equal          (D)  None of these

Solution  :

Column A :

Given, 40×0.25

=  40×0.25

=  10

Column B :

Given, √12

The value of √12 is 3.464

So, Column A is greater. 

Problem 3  :

Lines A and B are parallel.

Solution  :

By observing the picture, g is greater angle.

Solution  :

Column A :

Given, 1+k×4

=  (1+k)×4

Column B :

Given, (1+k)×4

So, Both are equal.

The remainder of 21448/4

Solution  :

Column A :

Given, 21448/4

So, The remainder is 0

Column B :

=  0

Therefore, Both are equal.

The ratio of green apples to red apples

The ratio of yellow apples to red apples

Solution  :

Column A :

Given, Ratio of green apples to red apples  2:4

=  2/4

=  1/2

Column B :

Given, Ratio of yellow apples to red apples  5:4

=  5/4

Now we have two ratios 1/2 and 5/4.

Changing the denominators same, we get

2/4 and 5/4

2/4 < 5/4

So, Column B is greater.

Problem 7  :

Column A

50×1/4

Column B

20% of 45

(A)  Column A is greater    (B)  Column B is greater

(C)  Both are equal       (D)  None of these

Solution  :

Column A :

Given, 50×1/4

=  50×1/4

=  50/4

=  12.5

Column B :

Given, 20% of 45

=  20/100×45

=  45/5

=  9

So, Column A is greater.

Problem 8  :

Solution  :

Column A :

Given, √36

=  √6×6

=  6

Column B :

Given, 63/62

=  6×6×6/6×6

=  216/36

=  6

So, Both are equal.

(Multiplication of 2nd and 3rd tables)

Multiply 2 of  2, 4, 8, 10, 14

Multiply 3 of  3, 6, 9, 12

So, The next number in the series 15

Therefore, Both are equal. 

Problem 10 :

(A)  Column A is greater    (B)  Column B is greater

(C)  Both are equal        (D)  None of these

Solution :

Column A :

Given, side a  =  6

We know that formula,  P  =  5a

=  5×6

=  30

Column B :

Given, Base  =  5, Height  =  6

We know that formula, A  =  1/2×b×h

=  1/2×5×6

=  1/2×30

=  15

So, Column A is greater.

Problem 11 :

SCAT-intermediate-q1

Column A : 2x + p

Column B : 2y + z

(A)  Column A is greater    (B)  Column B is greater

(C)  Both are equal        (D)  None of these

Solution :

Column A:

2x + p = 180

Column B :

2y + z = 180

Both columns are equal. So, option C is correct.

Problem 12 :

Column A :

The value of a number if 6 times the number is 6

Column B :

The value of a number if 5 times the number is 5

Solution :

Let x be the number.

Column A :

6 x = 6

x = 6/6

x = 1

Column B :

5 x = 5

x = 5/5

x = 1

So, both columns are equal. Option C is correct.

Problem 13 :

3x + 5 = 20

5y + 3 = 23

Column A :The value of x 

Column B : The value of y

Solution :

Solving these equations one by one

3x + 5 = 20

Subtracting 5 on both sides, we get

3x = 20 - 5

3x = 15

Dividing by 3 on both sides.

x = 15/3

x = 5

5y + 3 = 23

Subtracting 3 on both sides, we get

5y = 23 - 3

5y = 20

Dividing by 5 on both sides.

y = 20/5

y = 4

Value of x is greater. Then column A is greater.
