Assume the given multiplication as 9 x 999. Then, we have

= 9 x (1000 - 1)

= 9000 - 9

So, there must be four digits after the decimal point in the answer of 9 x 999.

Cost of 8 pens :

= 8 x cost of 1 pen

Cost of 12.5 lbs of apple.

The cost of apple is $2 per pund. Find the cost of 12.5 lbs of apple.

= 12.5 x cost of 1 lb of apple
