A) More than 1/2 of the bags are plain chips.

B) There are no bags of plain chips.

C) Exactly 1/2 of the bags are plain chips.

Problem 15 :

A rectangle has a perimeter of 40 centimeters and an area of 64 square centimeters. Which model could represent this rectangle?

SCAT-question4.png

(1)  Solution  :

The solution below uses the Long division with remainder method,

Start by setting the divisor 7 on the left side,

and the dividend 125 on the right side.

So, 125 is divided by 7 ,

Quotient  =  17

Remainder  =  6

Therefore, the remainder is 6.

(2)  Solution  :

Given,

Total number of students  =  312

Every group consist of 8 students.

To find number of groups,

Number of groups  =  Total students/Number of students in each group

=  312/8

=  39

So, the required number of groups is 39.

(3)  Solution  :

Given,

=  3.25×105

Since we have positive exponent, we will move the decimal 5 digits to the right side.

=  325000.

So, the answer is 325000.

(4)  Solution  :

Given,

=  2.1×103

Since we have positive exponent, we will move the decimal 3 digits to the right side.

=  2100

So, the answer is 2100.

(5)  Solution  :

In the given number 3400519, the hundreds place is 5.

The next digit of 5 is 1 which is less than 5. So, We may round it as 5.

So, the answer is 3400500

(6)  Solution  :

By observing the picture, the corresponding sides are in the same ratio. So they are similar shapes.

(7)  Solution  :

The distance between the center and point on the the circle is known as radius.

The line that connects any two points on the circle is known as chord.

If the line that connects two points on the circle and  pass through the center is known as diameter.

So, the required line is chord.

(8)  Solution  :

There are 5 vertices in a square-based pyramid.

(9)  Solution  :

Heptagon is a polygon. There are 7 sides in a heptagon.

(10)  Solution  :

We know that, 1m  =  1000 mm

=  300/1000

=  3/10

=  0.3m

So, 300mm  =  0.3m

(11)  Solution :

Total number of sheets used = 300

Number of flower to make each flower = 4

Number of flowers made = 300/4

= 75

Number of fourth grade in the school = 5

each grade can make = 75/5

= 15

So, option B is correct.

(12)  Solution :

SCAT-question2.png

∠SRV = ∠SRT + ∠TRV

= 35 + 65

= 100°

(13)  Solution :

SCAT-question3.png

In between two consecutive numbers, we see 10 equal parts.

1/10 = 0.1

So, the answer is 8 + 0.2

= 8.02

Option A is correct.

(14)  Solution :

A store sells bags of potato chips.

  • 1/3 of the bags are barbecue-flavored chips.
  • 3/5 of the bags are cheese-flavored chips.
  • The rest of the bags are plain chips.

Number of bags of barbecue-flavored chips = 1/3

= 0.3 (total number of bags)

Number of bags of barbecue-flavored chips = 3/5

= 0.6 (total number of bags)

Rest of the bags = 0.1(total number of bags)

Let us assume total number of bags = 50

Then comparing

0.3(50), 0.6(50) and 0.1(50)

Option D is correct.

SCAT-question4.png

Option A :

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(32 + 2)

= 2(34)

= 68 cm

Area of rectangle = 32 x 2

= 64 cm2

Option B :

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(16 + 4)

= 2(20)

= 40 cm

Area of rectangle = 16 x 4

= 64 cm2

So, option B is correct.
